Interpretation internship/Spanish Language Programming

| Responsibilities | Interns working in interpretation will be costumed and must commit to 3 days a week. A primary responsibility will be to offer scheduled tours and programs in Spanish. Women will work in gender-appropriate exhibits, such as households, gardening, textiles, school, and hearthside cooking. Men will work in agriculture -- including working with our animals -- and men's crafts, which could be tinmaking, pottery, blacksmithing, or shoemaking.
This internship requires full fluency in the Spanish language in addition to fluency in English and the ability to perform interpretive and program duties in both languages, as needed.
All interns will first undergo historical training of the museum's time period, training in the assigned area of interpretation, and training in customer service. A pre-existing set of tour and other interpretive materials in Spanish and designed for Spanish speakers will be utilized to train the intern in special Spanish language programming. All interns will be mentored by OSV interpretation staff at all times. Interns working in interpretation will be costumed by the OSV costume department. |

| Hours | The internship period is ten weeks, from June 1 to August 7, 2010. The work day is 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the museum is open daily (administrative departments operat weekdays only); work schedules vary by department. |
